Mrs. Savithri Vaithi a well known name in the social service area especially in care for elderly women, belongs to a reputed family of Freedom fighters, and illustrious members of the legal fraternity. She started her work in the social service from the age of 15 when she joined Seva Dal to work in the slums and take care of the sick. This paved the way for her full committed involvement which resulted in establishing the first of its kind an Insititution for the care of the deprived and deserted elderly women called Vishranthi which is now in its 43rd year. This Vishranthi is a Haven for the 150 elderly women who are taken care of with love and affection till they breathe their last.

It is mainly due to the committed work of Mrs.Vaithi, Vishranthi has now become a name to be reckoned with in Old age homes, and Mrs.Vaithi had been sought after as a advisor for other such homes and also by both State and Central Government who seek her suggestions for starting an Old age home. Mrs.Vaithi has been awarded with numerous awards and recognitions and the Real Heroes award by CNN IBN and Ambani in 2009 is a proof of her wide recognition. She was a very simple and humble person and very active ever willing to do more for the betterment of the elderly deserted women. Even at the age of 80 plus all used to wonder at her spirit and passion to care those who seek her help.

In fact the credit of a ladies club to meet only for service projects goes to Mrs.Vaithi for it was the MONDAY Charity Club started in 1970 which became the banner for Vishranthi to be born later. 50 years of team effort in doing various service projects for the poor and needy is commendable and Mrs.Vaithi is the Bonding strength for all the members of the Club and the inmates of Vishranthi .

Mrs. Savithri Vaithi was bedridden for few years and breathed her last on 10th of October 2020.

Vishranthi stands as a Monument of her Service and the indomitable spirit and her determination.
