MONDAY CHARITY CLUB

The Banyan Tree

Any kindness shown is to pass it on

Any concern shared is to pass it on

For it was not for Thee alone it on

Let it travel down the years to bring a smile

Till in the Beaven the deed appears, pass it on

– Henry Button

These words of Henry Button was inspiring to few of the housewives who felt they should give their Leisure hours for a nobel cause of service the have-nots of our society to bring a smile of review on the faces of distressed and the neglected

This triggered them to start a social organization with a general objective of “A Charity a Month” for the needy. The social organization was stared in 1970 by our Founder Mrs. Savithri Vaithi in a humble way with only 20 members and named itn Monday (Charity) Club because the members preferred to meet on the first Monday of every month. Now the club has grown like Banyan Tree spreading its branches to serve in various ares through its Projects given hereunder.

Monday Charity Club was started in 1970 by Mrs. Savithri Vaithi with 20 ladies to do social service to the needy population in Chennai. What started as “one act of kindness a month” or a “ A charity a month” went on to developing 4 major projects which are still running successfully till date. Our club provided an organizational base for housewives to embark on social service and as a result like the Banyan tree it has grown several successful projects which have touched the lives and benefitted those in need.
